“Every Individual Should Act To Save The Earth From Climate Change” ~ His Holiness the Dalai Lama

OM TARE TUTTARE TURE SVAHA

We invite you to join an international Green Tara Mantra count to Mitigate Global Warming. If a group of 10 people meets just once a week over Zoom, and each does 10 malas of Tara mantras, over 4 months, you collect 1.5 million together!

When: Group sessions will be held normally on Fridays from 12:15 – 1:00 pm ET. The first group session will be on Friday, December 23rd. We will then take a break on Friday, December 30th for our New Year’s Retreat, and then recommence on Friday, January 6th. Group sessions will continue in the new year on a regular Friday schedule until Friday, April 14th.

We will complete mantra recitations with a simple individual daily practice also. See below for an example of a brief practice.

Our teacher Gyumed Khensur Rinpoche Lobsang Jampa, who conferred the Citamani Tara initiation at Lama Yeshe Ling some years ago, recently gave his blessings to encourage a collective group effort for a 10 Million Tara mantra count dedicated to avoiding a climate disaster.

Why now? There have been recent promising developments in the effort to mitigate global warming, yet time is of the essence. To safeguard the environment for future generations, a high level of foresight, restraint, and cooperation is needed. By joining this collective group mantra count, we are taking action to create the causes for success. You also will gain immense merit as each of us will collect the total merit of our final group count!

Approximate mantra count accumulated over 4 months (Dec 15- Apr 15), assuming a mala (rosary) has 108 beads.
1 mala per day = 12,000
2 malas per day = 24,000
3 malas per day = 36,000
4 malas per day = 48,000
5 malas per day = 60,000
6 malas per day = 72,000
7 malas per day = 84,000
8 malas per day = 96,000

Don’t worry about counting a large number….Your count matters whatever size.

An initiation is not needed for Green Tara practice and a sadhana practice is optional. Each session only requires: Going for Refuge, Requesting Green Tara for her swift help to mitigate global warming, counting mantras “OM TARE TUTTARE TURE SVAHA”, and dedication. You can join our Friday Zoom practice, and you can count mantras every day as you walk, drive to work, or on the meditation cushion. If you already do daily Green Tara mantras, simply add this specific dedication to your daily mantras & keep track of the count.

Send an email to Venerable Chime at: [email protected] and let her know your personal target mantra count.

A Brief Prayer to Tara to prevent Climate Change Disaster

I go for refuge until I am enlightened
To the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Supreme Assembly.
By my merit from giving and other perfections,
May I become a buddha to benefit all sentient beings. (3x)

With my body, speech, and mind I devoutly prostrate.
I offer all offerings, both real and imagined.
All sins and offenses amassed from beginningless time I confess.
I rejoice in all virtuous actions of holy and ordinary beings.
O gurus and buddhas, please remain until samara ends,
And turn the wheel of the Dharma for sentient beings.
All my virtues and those of all others I dedicate to the great enlightenment.

OM I prostrate to the goddess foe destroyer, liberating lady Tara.
Homage to TARE, savioress, heroine,
With TUTTARE dispelling all fears,
Granting all benefits with TURE,
To her with sound SVAHA, I bow.
Please grant your swift blessings to help us prevent the coming climate disaster.

OM TARE TUTTARE TURE SVAHA (1 or more malas)

By the virtue of this practice may I realize full awakening
And lead all beings to this state,
Until then may all fears from disturbance of the elements,
particularly humanity driven climate change, be pacified.

“We human beings are the only creatures with the power to destroy the earth, but we are also the species with the greatest capacity to protect it. We must confront issues of climate change on a cooperative global level for everyone’s benefit. But we must also do what we can on a personal level”.   ~ His Holiness the Dalai Lama
