Lama Zopa Rinpoche Teaching from Nepal
While staying at Kopan Monastery during the COVID-19 crisis, Lama Zopa Rinpoche is recording new videos with advice, oral transmissions, and instruction on practice.
In these videos, such as the one shown on October 2, 2020, Practice Now Because You Can Die Anytime!, Rinpoche is continuing to urge us to use these difficult times to develop our Dharma practice. Lama Zopa Rinpoche begins this teaching explaining that Buddhism teaches us that how things appear to our minds is totally opposite to how they exist. Every single thing we do in our lives with our body, speech, and minds is carried forth with this wrong view, which is a total hallucination. What this basic Buddhist teaching offers you is the opportunity to learn about the truth of your life. Buddhism is not just chanting and learning rituals; it is for discovering yourself.
Rinpoche emphasizes the opportunities available to us to transform our minds using the Buddha’s teachings. By looking at the pandemic with Dharma in our minds, our daily practice of bodhichitta and wisdom can be quickly developed so that we can be most beneficial.
Rinpoche had previously assembled booklets of advice on daily practice, bodhichitta mindfulness, and wisdom realizing emptiness, which are always useful. During this pandemic, Rinpoche is continuing to give precious advice that is particularly pertinent to the current situation in the world. Watching these video teachings or reading the transcripts, can be even more powerful for our minds now.
