We are sorry to announce that Venerable Yangten Tulku Rinpoche will not be able to give this teaching for Lama Yeshe Ling this evening as Rinpoche will be travelling to Zurich.

We pray that we will be able to welcome Yangten Tulku Rinpoche to teach in the future.

We are honoured to announce that Lama Yeshe Ling will welcome Venerable Yangten Tulku Rinpoche, the liturgical secretary to the office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, to give a teaching on the verse for arising refuge and bodhicitta (sangye cho tsokma). This prayer is recited at the beginning of nearly every Mahayana Buddhist practice; containing the essence of going for refuge to the three rare sublime ones, arising the wish to achieve enlightenment to benefit all beings (bodhicitta), and the practice of the six perfections which are the means to accomplish this wish.

During the hour-and-a-half session, Rinpoche will illuminate the meaning of this essential prayer for us, and there will be an opportunity for questions and answers.

This event is being jointly organized by Lama Yeshe Ling and The FPMT North American Regional Office.

About Venerable Yangten Tulku Rinpoche

Yangten Rinpoche was born in Kham, Tibet in 1978. He was recognised as a tulku aged 10, and enthroned at Kandze Monastery. In 1990, at the unusually young age of 12, he entered the Geshe program at Sera Mey Monastery and graduated with a Geshe Lharampa degree (with distinction) in 2007, aged only 29. After graduation, Rinpoche joined Gyuto Monastery for two years and completed the traditional tantric studies there. During his time at Gyuto he also served as a Debate Assistant to Gyalwa Karmapa Rinpoche.

Since 2008, at the personal request of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Yangten Rinpoche has been working at the Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in various capacities. Rinpoche has assisted His Holiness on many projects, including being selected to compile a book on Buddhist Science, from the Kangyur and Tengyur. Rinpoche is also leading the project for compiling the writings and teachings of His Holiness the Fourteenth Dalai Lama.

Yangten Rinpoche composed a long-life prayer for Lama Zopa Rinpoche, entitled “Panacea of Pure Nectar”, following his illness in 2011, which can be found here.
