*** UPDATE: The class on Sunday, April 16 will be postponed until next week due to special prayers we will make for the passing of Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche

The King of Prayers, Samantabhadra’s Aspiration to Good Actions, is a profound prayer of aspiration sourced from the Gaṇḍavyūha chapter of the Avataṃsaka sūtra. The text is also a profound teaching on the immeasurably beneficial activities of bodhisattvas, those beings completely dedicated to the benefit of others. The beautiful verses reveal deep aspects of both the vast and profound paths of practice. The text is profoundly uplifting, encouraging practitioners with its description of the vast possibilities expressed in the Mahāyāna teachings. You can download the text published by the FPMT King of Prayers – Gaṇḍavyūha chapter of the Avatamsaka Sutra (trans. Jesse Fenton)

In addition, on each Sunday Geshe Sonam will introduce one or two verses from Lama Tsongkhapa’s Text In Praise of Dependent Arising, which explains the union of emptiness and dependent arising. You can learn more about this profound text by reading a short introduction by Lama Zopa Rinpoche here: Dependent Arising A Praise of the Buddha – Lama Tsongkhapa (trans. Gavin Kilty).

Our programs are given freely, and we rely also on your generosity – this is the traditional and pure way of the Buddha Dharma. Offering support for the Dharma can be a limitlessly powerful act. This is the highest, most long-term form of generosity, which is to share with others the path to full awakening. When we support the Dharma we create causes for us to encounter the Dharma frequently, and we create the merit to be able to easily integrate the teachings in our minds. Offering support deepens our connection to Dharma teachers and connects us as a community.
