“Every Individual Should Act To Save The Earth From Climate Change” ~ His Holiness the Dalai Lama
OṂ TĀRE TUTTĀRE TURE SVĀHĀ
We invite you to join an international Green Tārā Mantra count to Mitigate Global Warming. If a group of 10 people meets just once a week over Zoom, and each does 10 malas of Tārā mantras, over 4 months, you collect 1.5 million together!
When: Group sessions will be held normally on Fridays from 12:15 – 1:00 pm ET. Group sessions will continue in the new year on a regular Friday schedule until Friday, April 14th.
Register here to attend online on Zoom.
We will complete mantra recitations with a simple individual daily practice also. See below for an example of a brief practice.
Our teacher Gyumed Khensur Rinpoche Lobsang Jampa, who conferred the Citamani Tārā initiation at Lama Yeshe Ling some years ago, recently gave his blessings to encourage a collective group effort for a 10 Million Tārā mantra count dedicated to avoiding a climate disaster.
Why now? There have been recent promising developments in the effort to mitigate global warming, yet time is of the essence. To safeguard the environment for future generations, a high level of foresight, restraint, and cooperation is needed. By joining this collective group mantra count, we are taking action to create the causes for success. You also will gain immense merit as each of us will collect the total merit of our final group count!
You can add your count to the global total here: www.10milliontaras.com, where you may also join other prayer sessions with other centers.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama says:
“Our ancestors viewed the earth as rich and bountiful, which it is, but what’s more it is our only home. We must protect it not only for ourselves, but also for future generations, and for the countless species with which we share the planet.”
“Appreciating the sense of oneness of humanity in the face of the challenge of global warming is the real key to our survival. Since the future of all coming generations rests on our shoulders, we must be determined in taking action before it is too late.”
“Global warming is an urgent reality. None of us is able to change the past. But we are all in a position to contribute to a better future. Indeed, we have a responsibility to ourselves and to the more than seven billion human beings alive today to ensure that all of us can continue to live in peace and safety. With hope and determination, we must take care of both our own lives and those of all our neighbours.”
“Today, we need to address the future not with prayers prompted by fear, but by taking realistic action founded on scientific understanding. The inhabitants of our planet are interdependent as never before. Everything we do affects our human companions, as well as innumerable animal and plant species.”
“The threat of global warming and climate change is not limited by national boundaries; it affects us all. As we face this crisis together, it is imperative that we act in a spirit of solidarity and cooperation in order to limit its consequences. I hope and pray that our leaders will gather the strength to take collective action to address this emergency, and set a timetable for change. We have to act to make this a safer, greener, happier world.”
