When: Wednesday, May 26, 7:00 – 8:00 pm, EDT
On this auspicious day of Saga Dawa, Geshe Sonam will give the oral transmission (lung) of the Heart Sutra (Prajñāpāramitāhṛdaya / Sherab Nyingpo), the shortest of the Perfection Of Wisdom Sutras that reveals the essential meaning of the Buddha’s collected teachings on emptiness. Receiving the transmission of this text means that one is connected with it in a more tangible and direct. Geshe la will also transmit the root mantra of Shakyamuni Buddha. Time permitting, there will be a very brief explanation of the Heart Sutra and a Lam Rim meditation.
Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche has explained that merit is multiplied 300,000,000 times on Saga Dawa, the 15th day of the month of Saga Dawa, which is the day of Buddha’s birth, enlightenment, and passing into the “sorrowless state” (parinirvana). Because Saga Dawa combines these three special days, the possibility to create merit is unbelievable. Due to this, it is very important for one to use this opportunity to do “everything the best!” To learn more about the amazing results of doing practice on this day, please watch this video. Please note that “Saga Dawa” is the same as “Saka Dawa”, as is shown on the FPMT website.

Special Noon time Recitation of Diamond Cutter Sutra
When: Wednesday, May 26, 12:00 – 1:00 pm, EDT (approximately)
On this auspicious day, we will recite The Vajra Cutter Sutra (also known as Diamond Cutter Sutra or Diamond Sutra) during our regular lunchtime prayer meeting. It is one of the most well-known sutras of Mahayana Buddhism. The Vajra Cutter Sutra is a discourse on the Buddhist concept of emptiness, the “wisdom gone beyond.”
The Diamond Cutter Sutra is available for download here.
Please note that the session will start at 12:00 pm on this day to account for the longer recitation.
Here is the zoom link (same as for our regular noon-time prayer group).
