We are happy to announce that we will celebrate His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 90th birthday with Don Handrick this year. In the first part of the session, Don will give a talk on ‘Making Kindness Your Religion’, inspired by His Holiness’s teachings, followed by prayers for the long life of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
Don combines years of study and a profound understanding of the Buddha’s teachings with a very kind and gentle approach.
Here are the slides that Don presented during his talk: Making Kindness Your Religion Presentation Slides LYL 2025
Making Kindness Your Religion
“My religion is very simple. My religion is kindness.”
This beloved quote from His Holiness the Dalai Lama espouses the basic philosophy of Buddhism and also speaks to the shared practice of kindness that is essential to all faith traditions. In this session, we’ll explore the practices of living a daily life with loving kindness and examine the ways to overcome the self-centred attitudes that keep our hearts from opening fully to others.

Help us to make an offering to Don for his insightful teachings.
Our programs are given freely, and we also rely on your generosity – this is the traditional and pure way of the Buddha Dharma. Offering support for the Dharma can be a limitlessly powerful act. This is the highest, most long-term form of generosity, which is to share with others the path to full awakening. When we support the Dharma, we create causes for us to encounter the Dharma frequently, and we create the merit to be able to integrate the teachings in our minds easily. Offering support deepens our connection to Dharma teachers and connects us as a community.
