When: Monday, August 1, 2022, 7:00 – 7:30 pm EDT
This day celebrates Buddha’s first turning of the wheel of Dharma (Tib. Chokhor Duchen). When the Buddha achieved full awakening he did not at first teach others. After seven weeks the gods Indra and Brahma offered to the Buddha a Dharmachakra and a conch shell and requested and encouraged the Awakened One to teach to others what he had accomplished. Buddha Shakyamuni then turned the Wheel of Dharma at Sarnath with the teaching of the Four Noble Truths.
On this day, Lama Zopa Rinpoche recommends reciting the Sutra for Remembering the Three Jewels. Join us in a group recitation of this holy Sutra, along with a number of auspicious mantras on this holy day.
This recitation session will be led by David Gould.
Please register to attend on Zoom.
