The Guru Puja with Tsog

May 29th, 2018

Join us to celebrate Saka Dawa with the Guru Yoga practice. Saka Dawa is one of the most important festival days of the Tibetan Buddhist calendar, celebrating Shakyamuni Buddha’s birth, enlightenment and parinirvana. Any actions done during Saka Dawa, both auspicious and harmful, are multiplied in their power. Karmic results are multiplied by one hundred million, as cited by Lama Zopa Rinpoche in the Vinaya text Treasure of Quotations and Logic. It is a very powerful time to practice and increase one’s commitment to both practice and study.

You are welcome to bring a small offering of flowers, incnse or food

Practices recomended by Lama Zopa on multiplying days

About Guru Puja

If you are able to do the practice of Guru Puja in your daily life, it contains all the important points of sutra and tantra. It is a complete practice, like hitting a target, so you should attempt to integrate everything in this way. If you do this practice you don’t miss anything. This practice of Guru Puja is very profound, with many extra benefits, and is very quick to bring enlightenment. The lam-rim prayer in Guru Puja has lam-rim, thought transformation and, after the six perfections, the generation and completion stages of tantra. There are verses that show those paths (excerpt from Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche).

Guru, meaning weighty with qualities, resprests our own latent potential for awakening. We all have an inner wisdom guru which develops as we grow spiritually. The outer guru who demonstrates the qualities of an awakened being serves as an inspiration for us. Whatever offerings, requests we make towards the guru, they strengthen our connection with our potential, and stimulate our potential  for awakening to bud and blossom. Guru Puja is a practice designed to awaken our potential and to nurture and guide our potential as it grows.
