The Centre for Compassion & Wisdom Oakville/Burlington

Anyone is most welcome to participate in any activities of this group, begun in Oakville and led by Dekyi Lee Oldershaw, former nun and founder of Lamp on the Path. Recently we moved into a new location in Burlington at The Centre for Compassion & Wisdom at 3445 Lakeshore Rd. (formerly the rector’s house next to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, just west of Walker’s Line), and now have a program most days of the week.

On Monday evenings we offer a variety of Buddhist Meditation and Chanting Practices from 7 to 8:30 pm, while Wednesday evenings are devoted to Deepening Your Understanding of Buddhist Philosophy from 7 to 9 pm which will resume in February. Due to a greater interest in meditation practice, we now offer Meditation on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:00 pm.

Programs designed to deepen compassion and wisdom for those not interested in traditional Buddhism are also offered at the Centre. These include 5 Tibetan Yogas, and Transformative Mindfulness, the latter held on the first Tuesday of each month from 8:15 to 9:15 pm. On Friday evenings at 7 pm, there are bi-weekly Movie Nights and other get-togethers. You can join anytime. There are also Saturday retreats and courses regularly.

Check our Calendar and our Home Page for dates and further details. For events that require advanced registration, please call us at 905 296-3728 to leave a voicemail and we will contact you to confirm your registration.
