From the 1971 Kopan Course to Universal Education - with Peter Kedge

Event Date:
March 8, 2015 - 2:00pm - 4:00pm

Peter Kedge will speak about how his life unfolded after meeting Lama Yeshe at the November Course at Kopan Monastery Kathmandu in 1971 (Lama Yeshe, and his disciple Lama Zopa Rinpoche, are the founders of the FPMT). Peter has held many roles and titles over the past four decades, has made an immense contribution to the FPMT, and now to Universal Education. Please join us for Peter's talk and get a direct taste of what it was like to be at the center of things at the begining of the spread of Tibetan Buddhism to the West.

Peter graduated in mechanical engineering from Leeds University in England and began a career as a design engineer with Rolls Royce Aero Engines. Having travelled overland from London to Kathmandu in 1971, Peter attended the second Kopan Course, travelled as assistant to Lama Yeshe from 1976 to 1980, was a Founding Director of FPMT, a Founding Trustee of Manjushri Institute in UK, a Founder of the Mahayana Buddhist Association in Hong Kong, the Founder of the Lama Yeshe Wisdom Archive, and was instrumental in the acquisition of Land of Medicine Buddha in California.  Between May 1997 and October 2012, Peter was Director of the Maitreya Project overseeing the legal, financial, architectural and engineering development of the Project; and devising and initiating the Maitreya Project Relic Tour. Peter is travelling to Toronto from his home in B.C. to attend the Secular Ethics through Mindfulness course at the University of Toronto led by Centre facilitators Craig Mackie and Shelley Urlando March 6th and 7th.
